Furry Fiesta in Addison was my first convention, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Though it does make me wonder why I didn’t start doing this sooner. I came both prepared and unprepared. I was ready to do badges… ish – MANY thanks to myenia for all her help and letting me borrow all the stuff I didn’t have, and to the fabulous person who let me buy some laminating sheets off of them on friday- I just didn’t take into account HOW important they were/what to bring. I was ready for sketchbooks. Didn’t have quite as many prints OR originals as I probably should have. And probably should have had some linework or graphite originals that could have been cheaper than the full color pieces I brough. I need to get a better setup for my pendants/charms/things so people know they are available. Also need to get the ACEO’s cut earlier next year. Had them cut out but never got a chance to finish them in time for the con, and didn’t have enough time at the con either. Met some WONDERFUL people most notably myenia and Lucky Kojak who were booth buddies there. Also a few people who I don’t know if they have DA accounts… so yeaaah. Forrest, Mouse, Mur, SailorAnne, Sisuke (sp?), Taigitsune, Jinx, Ivvy, Mitsu, Friend with the red collar, and the rest of you that I’m sure to have forgotten your names and would recognize you on site – Thanks for stopping by, for chatting, for the commissions. You all absolutely rock, and made my first convention an AMAZING ONE!

So for those of you who were at the con, you can skip this paragraph, it’s about all the trials that went on regarding me actually making it there, and you’ve heard that. So… due to the power outage that kicked us out of teh house for 5 days I had problems getting everything run off in time, then the water heater broke, out of the house for two more. Then the septic system blew, so out of the house for the whole con weekend (and now). So rather than being 30 min away, I was 1 hr away. Assuming of course, that there is no traffic. With traffic, I soon discovered that the trip was 2 hours. . So Friday I came, was 3rd in line, (getting there at 7:10) and met the fantastic Forrest and Myenia. Had a great day, got my only charm commissions that day, from Val, Deviant, Aress, Sabri, Silvermane, Coyo, Neos owner, and Padunk. Which came out as some of the BEST little pendants I’ve done. So excited. Left at around 9:30, got back the next day at 5:45 to get there at 6:45 and BARELY got in. The one thing I would say is I wish the con had a bigger artists alley, there were an awful lot of people trying to get those 16 spots. It was INTENSE. But got in, had my best sale day, and got to meet Luckykojak, who has the Most AMAZING steampunk jewelry, (you should totally check it out). And was generally pretty swamped the whole day. Left at around 9 because my head was blaring (in time with the bass from the rave in the next room… really overrated – TOO MUCH sorry for those of you that love it)and was back by 4am the next day to make sure I had a seat. Sunday was pretty slow. Which I guess is normal. Took my commissions, and managed to get everything done by 4. Got a few more random pendants sold, and left at around 5pm.

So for the next con I need to remember to get some sort of holder for badges (I really don’t like lamination)
magnets! (maybe pins too)
Get the aceos done in time silly (Now I know what that stand for too, thanks Myenia)
Bring a few of my tube watercolors – couldn’t squeeze enough on my palette White acrylic (or ink)
Maybe my black in and a crowquill pen… have to see if anyone is interested in my inkwork
